Nina Senicar
La Coraggiosa
Nina Senicar was born in Novi Sad in 1985. She began acting at the age of 14 as part of the Sonja Marinkovic theatre group. Nina was a member of the drama section until her departure to Italy where she studied with a full scholarship at the prestigious Luigi Bocconi University in Milan. After 5 years of study, Nina earned her Master of Science degree in Economics and Management in Culture, Media and Arts.
During her studies, Nina began hosting and acting professionally and made several films, television series and commercials. In 2011, she received the Milan Film Festival Award for Best Young Actress. After her success in Europe, Nina moved to New York to attend the renowned acting coach Susan Batson’s acting school, after which she moved to Los Angeles in 2013. Nina continued to work between the US, Serbia and Italy. in 2015 alone Nina was the lead of 3 films in three different languages in these three countries.
Perhaps the most important thing Nina learned in America is that the actor has to create her own projects, open the door for herself, and use her creativity not only through acting but also through writing, directing and producing. In 2020, Nina completed her writing and directing studies at UCLA University with a final student film called Amore that she produced, wrote and directed.
Nina is an avid humanitarian and works closely with organizations such as Pangea, Amfar, IMC, IRC, Fondazione Rava and most recently she started her own organization “Ja brinem o sebi” (I take care of myself) that spreads awareness about cervical cancer and its prevention.
In 2022 Nina published her first children’s book called “Star Slavica”. The book was an instant success and she is currently writing the sequel.
I love my job so much that I actually have the most fun while working. I love being on set and working with different people. On the other side, there is a lot of “down” time when I’m in between projects and that’s when I try to have fun in different ways. I love nature, any kind of sport, I love roller skating by the beach or riding my bicycle around LA.
Like every actor, I had a dream to come to Hollywood one day so when that opportunity came I grabbed it. I never really made a conscious decision to leave Italy, I just started spending more and more time in LA.
There are many memories but the first one that comes to my mind is a night swim in the ocean. I was having dinner at the Nobu restaurant in Malibu which is a pretty fancy place just above the beach overlooking the ocean. I convinced my friends to jump over the gate and run to the water. We had a great time.
There is something magical about this place. It makes me calm and grateful. LA is not an easy city, it sucks being so far away from home and family. Whenever I feel down I hike here and enjoy this beautiful view. The outfit that I would actually wear to this place would be workout clothes but I dressed up for you.
It is a beautiful and important project. Seeing other people who came to the United States to follow their dreams makes you feel less lonely.
In my experience people love Italy and everything regarding its style, food, culture… All I have to do is to confirm how amazing Italy is. I try to go deeper and talk about places and things that people here are not familiar with and maybe encourage them to go visit some other places that are not the most obvious tourist choices when it comes to Italy.
